"Water Droplets on Objects", 2018
Water droplets are like small magnify glass because the clear liquid dome helps enhance the detail and enlarge the scale of the design on the surface. I noticed that effect when I made a close-up shot of a ruler that have several water droplets amplifying the digits. This encounter inspired me to start exploring more of macro shots using the water drops over the symbols.
Throughout the process, I searched for different small items that have imprinted digits and sprayed on water on the top. The lights from my electronic device were applied to flash bright colors on the exterior to create dramatic visual interest such as pattern, contrast, and rhythm. Although it was a difficult task in getting clear photos of magnification and color reflection from the water, I enjoyed seeing the outcome of my exploration in macro shots.
I chose to focus on numbers because we see them in our daily lives including on the materials we own. Numbers have an indication of different messages like a secret code, a total of something, or a date. However, my intention is to let the viewers interpret what the numerals stamped on objects represent.
